Tamaqua police charge man after smashing bar window

Tamaqua police charged a man with public drunkenness and other offenses after he smashed the front window on a bar on the 300 block of East Broad Street in Tamaqua just before 8 p.m. March 20.

According to police, officers were called to the establishment at 7:56 p.m. after Micah Vasquez, 39, was asked to leave. The bar owner said Vasquez, whose last known address is Tamaqua, refused to do so and broke the window. The owner and another patron stopped Vasquez and called police.

When officers arrived, they handcuffed Vasquez and interviewed the owner and patrons about the incident.

Police said they also asked for surveillance video from the bar and estimates of the damage.

Vasquez was taken into custody and released to the custody of his mother.

Police charged him with public drunkenness, harassment, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
