The Tamaqua Area Middle School Music Department will present its annual Spring Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium.
The concert will feature performances by the middle school sixth, seventh and eight grade General Chorus, and the seventh and eighth grade Select Chorus.
The General Chorus will start the show with “How Can I Keep From Singing” by Greg Gilpin. A Garth Brooks classic, “The River,” is the next selection. “Geronimo,” a pop song from the band Sheppard, closes the General Chorus portion of the concert.
A select group of students from the Tamaqua High School Jazz and Concert Chorale will make a guest appearance to perform “Hlohonolofatsa,” a South African greeting song sure to get the audience going.
The Select Chorus will be joined by the members of the Jazz Chorale to sing “The Dream Keeper” by Rollo Dillworth. “Agnus Dei” by Victor Johnson follows. The chorus will sing “Defying Gravity,” from the musical “Wicked” and close its portion of the concert with “Humble and Kind” by country singer Tim McGraw.
The concert will come to a close as the choirs combine to sing the rock classic, “Don’t Stop Believing.”
The middle school choirs are under the direction of John Buglio.
The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.
