Penn’s Peak announces Southern Avenue in concert July 19
Penn’s Peak presents Southern Avenue in concert on July 19 at 8 p.m. Southern Avenue, the Blues Music Award-winning and Grammy-nominated Memphis-based band, blends Memphis blues, modern soul, and gospel-infused roots music.
Known for their uplifting, message-driven songs and electrifying performances, the band features lead vocalist and songwriter Tierinii Jackson, her husband, guitarist and songwriter Ori Naftaly, and her sisters, drummer and vocalist Tikyra “T.K.” Jackson and percussionist, violinist, and vocalist Ava Jackson.
“Through our music,” Naftaly says, “we expand our family to include our fans and anyone moved by our songs.”
The Jackson sisters’ powerful harmonies, combined with Naftaly’s deep passion for blues and soul, create a unique sound rooted in Memphis tradition yet refreshingly modern.
Southern Avenue’s latest album, Family, their first release with Alligator Records, showcases their signature style with soul-stirring, groove-heavy tracks.
Recorded at Memphis’ legendary Royal Studios and produced by Grammy winner John Burk, the album highlights the band’s raw energy and deep musical connection. Southern Avenue’s rise has been meteoric.
Their 2017 self-titled debut made them the first Memphis band signed to the newly reformed Stax Records.
Their 2019 release, Keep On, earned a Grammy nomination, while their third album, Be The Love You Want, was produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin.
The band has toured extensively, sharing stages with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sheryl Crow, Los Lobos, Galactic, and The Revivalists.
In 2024, they headlined the Chicago Blues Festival and joined the Outlaw Music Festival, performing alongside Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Bob Dylan.
Nelson even wore a Southern Avenue T-shirt onstage and invited them to perform during his set each night. With Family, Southern Avenue continues to forge a deep connection with audiences worldwide.
“Our music is our expression of life,” Tierinii Jackson says. “When our listeners connect with our songs, they become part of our journey, our family.” Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster outlets, the Penn’s Peak box office, and Roadies Restaurant and Bar. Box office and Roadies sales are walk-up only; no phone orders.
Penn’s Peak, a premier mountaintop venue in Jim Thorpe, hosts up to 1,800 guests.
