Local Roundup: Results from March 24
Lehighton’s baseball team remained perfect this season, while Pleasant Valley gained wins in both baseball and softball on Monday.
Elsewhere, the Northwestern boys lacrosse team defeated Liberty.
BASEBALL
Lehighton-Northern Lehigh
Lehighton posted its third straight win of the season, gaining a 9-6 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Cole Dietz collected three hits and knocked in thee runs to lead the Indians offense.
Jake Lewis also added two hits — one a double — and a run scored, while Cody Snyder contributed a double and three runs. Aiden Solt chipped in with a hit and two RBIs.
For the Bulldogs, Chris Vargas had a single, double, two runs and an RBI, while Connor Simms finished with a single, double, a run and two RBIs.

Allen-Pleasant Valley
Pleasant Valley scored all its runs in one inning, but it was enough to gain a 6-5 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Allen.
After the Canaries grabbed a 5-0 lead after two frames, the Bears countered with a six-run third.
Jake Procita got the PV rally started with a single and scored on one of four Allen errors in the inning. Braydon Green and Sam Smale both had fielder’s choice RBIs, while Jacob George added a run-scoring single.
Bears starting pitcher London Smith rebounded from a rough start and went the distance to earn the pitching win. Smith allowed just one earned run, walked one and struck out four.

SOFTBALL
Pleasant Vy.-Palmerton
Five extra-base hits helped Pleasant Valley roll to a 10-2 non-conference win over Palmerton.
Jovie Valenzuela (two doubles), Allison Borger (double), Kailyn Getz (triple) and Katie VanSchoyck (triple) accounted for those extra base hits for the Bears.
VanSchoyck also added two singles, scored three runs and had two RBIs.
Getz finished with three hits and two RBIs at the plate, and also recorded the pitching win. The hurler allowed three hits and one earned run, walked three and struck out nine.
For the Blue Bombers, Mikayla Pengelly, Hailey Delgado and Hailey Barry accounted for their team’s three hits. Pengelly and Barry’s hits were both doubles.

Liberty-Northwestern
Braydon Uricchio’s two goals and three assists helped lead Northwestern to an 8-5 win over visiting Liberty.
Both Kendall Wikert and Logan Uricchio chipped in with two goals, while NW keeper Dane Kauker finished with seven saves.
