Spring Mountain Road in Banks Township was closed due to a fatal crash Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. involving a vehicle and two bicyclists.

The Carbon County Coroners Office said a bicyclist was struck by a car and fatally injured. The identification of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

According to reports from the scene the other biker was injured

The scene is just a couple of hundred yards east of Route 93. The coroner said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest.

The accident is under investigation by the Coroners Office and Pa. State Police, Hazleton along with the State Police reconstruction unit.
