The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, approved:
Personnel
• Larissa Genetti was appointed as an English/special education teacher, effective Aug. 21. Step 4, $53,000. Larissa moved through steps 1-3 at CCTI teaching under a different certification.
• Stephen Nesler was appointed as a teacher mentor for Walter O’Donnell, carpentry instructor, and Jeremy Pease as a mentor for Hal C. Resh, long-term substitute HVAC instructor, for the 2024-25 school year. $1000 a year pro rated.
• Elizabeth Schlecht was approved as a building substitute, effective March 21, through the end of the 2024-25 school year. $150 per day.
• Kyle Woodward was approved as a substitute volunteer/chaperone for the 2024-25 school year. No pay
Summer Career Academy
The following were approved as instructors at a rate of $30 per hour, funded by the Perkins Grant: Rainbeau Currier, Ashleigh Rehrig, Kevin Kuehner, Joshua Reif, Tammy Marshall, Hal C. Resh, Stephen Nesler, Harold Resh, Walter O’Donnell, Richard Stettler, Jeremy Pease and Angelina Aurisano.
• The following were approved as van drivers at a rate of $25 per hour, also funded by the Perkins Grant: Rainbeau Currier, Jeremy Pease, Kevin Kuehner, Ashleigh Rehrig, Salvatore LoPresti, Joshua Reif, Tammy Marshall, Hal C. Resh, Stephen Nesler, Harold Resh, Walter O’Donnell and Richard Stettler.
Events, trips
• Two CCTI Auto Service Technology students were retroactively approved to attend the second part of the Northampton Community College Auto Skills Contest on March 12, in Bethlehem, after qualifying in November 2024. Harold Resh, Auto Service Technology instructor, will chaperone.
• Fourteen CCTI Culinary Arts students will tour Walnut Hill College’s culinary and pastry programs in Philadelphia on April 4. The event will be chaperoned by Ashleigh Rehrig, Culinary Arts instructor, and Alexandria Ventrella, Culinary Arts instructional aide.
• Eight CCTI Engineering Technology students will attend a BattleBots competition on April 5, at Bloomsburg Area High School. Michael Garrant, Engineering Technology instructor and robotics adviser, will chaperone.
• Four students will attend the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, from April 25-29. The estimated cost of $11,767 will cover registration, transportation, lodging, and meals. Carly Rinda, DECA adviser, and two approved chaperones will accompany the students.
• Twenty-five CCTI Cosmetology students will attend The International Congress of Ethics and Spa in Philadelphia on May 5. The $2,275 cost covers registration and transportation. Tammy Marshall, Cosmetology instructor, Heather Cassidy, Cosmetology instructional aide, and Deb Foraker, approved substitute, will chaperone.
• Ninety junior students will participate in a Pocono Whitewater Rafting trip in Jim Thorpe on May 29. The event will be chaperoned by Brandi Schmoyer, underclassmen adviser, and eight additional approved chaperones. The estimated cost of $250 will cover bus transportation only.
