Towamensing Township supervisors discussed the following business this month:
• The township heard complaints from residents of Clearview Road and Kenetta Road about trash not being picked up.
Supervisors said the trash truck cannot get there due to road conditions.
For the time being dumpsters were placed on the streets for resident use.
• David Severino noted that there is an America 250 celebration on July 4, 2026 and he wanted to have a celebration in the township. A motion was made for him to work with the Historical Commission and get back to the supervisors with more information.
• In new business, the Supervisors Compensation Ordinance passed with a 2-1 vote. Attorney Tom Nanovic will draw something up for the next meeting to enact this ordinance. The increase is only for newly elected officials or those elected for another term.
• Following a meeting of township auditors a salary increase was approved for Scott Mosier, roadmaster and supervisor.
• The Whitman-Owl Creek subdivision was given a time extension until June 30.
• Patricia Mann was approved as a new member of the historical commission. The commission asked for a cabinet in the Township meeting room to keep archives. This was approved.
• A part-time administrative assistant, Jan Cool, was dismissed.
• Kathy DeKorte resigned her position from the Palmerton Library board of directors, effective immediately.
• A recycling event will be held April 12 from 8 a.m. to noon at the township building.
