State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• Noel Abadia, 43, of Saint Clair, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:28 a.m. Feb. 2 on Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township.
Police said he had a minor wrist injury that did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.
They said he was driving a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon southbound when it traveled off the left side of the road, struck a ditch, proceeded back across both lanes and hit guide railing.
• The driver of a tractor-trailer whose tire blew out, throwing tread onto the highway, was cited after an incident at 6:03 p.m. March 12 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.
Police said the tread hit a 2023 Hyundai Sonata that was southbound. Police said both drivers were able to pull onto the right shoulder of the interstate. No one was injured.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:22 p.m. Feb. 4 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Moises E. Membreno Umana, 34, of Thomasville, North Carolina, was driving a 2018 Kenworth south when he lost control of it. The rig left the road and hit a cement barrier, traveled back onto the southbound lanes and jackknifed, striking a second barrier.
Police said the entire load of the rig was scattered along the left southbound shoulder.
The tractor-trailer had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Membreno Umana was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Damage was minor in a two-vehicle crash at 4:08 p.m. March 13 on Interstate 81 in Ryan Township.
Police did not identify the drivers but said the crash occurred when a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, traveling north, passed a 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. The driver of the van increased its speed, not allowing the Suburban to merge into the left lane.
They said the van struck the driver-side rear tire of the Suburban. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene and neither driver was injured.
Police said the driver of the van was cited after the crash.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 11:44 a.m. March 7 on Interstate 81 in Delano Township.
Police did not identify the drivers but said the crash occurred when a 2020 Kenworth traveling southbound merged into the right lane and crashed into the driver side of a 2015 Subaru Impreza.
Police said both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
• James N. Pester, 55, of Quakake, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:30 a.m. March 13 on Lofty Road, Delano Township.
Police said he was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 west when it went off the road, traveled along an embankment and then hit a large boulder. Police said Pester fled the scene.
He was later cited, according to police.
Police said the F-150 was towed from the scene.
