State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police are investigating a theft by deception incident reported on Feb. 28 on Locust Street, Schuylkill Township.

A 27-year-old woman from Palatine, Illinois, told police she purchased a dog online from a breeder at the above residence, but when she arrived at the address to pick up the dog the breeder would not answer. She told police she attempted to communicate with the breeder via phone regarding an alternate pickup date or a refund.

• A 47-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from McAdoo, were charged with assault after an incident at 12:08 p.m. on March 4 on North Sheridan Street, McAdoo.

Police said a 27-year-old man from McAdoo told them he was walking north when he was confronted by one of the suspects. He said an argument turned physical in the middle of the road.

• Police were called to a corruption of minors report in Coaldale. A 13-year-old girl reported through the ChildLine system that abuse and neglect took place in the borough at noon on Nov. 25, 2024.

• Police were called to the State Correctional Institution at Frackville to investigate a noncontact harassment allegation.

The purported incident occurred on Feb. 22 at the facility off Altamont Avenue, Ryan Township.

• Police were summoned at 12:11 p.m. on March 14 to Little Mountain Road, East Brunswick Township, for a report of several items being found. A 1997 Chevrolet Silverado was involved in the incident.

Police said sunglasses, reading glasses, energy crystals, a plastic container, a Disney Stitch pin and a Pink Floyd pin were found.

• Xavier Mercado, 33, of Harrisburg, was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville, on assault charges following an incident at 7:14 p.m. on March 14 on Coal Street in Middleport.

Police said a 31-year-old woman from Middleport reported she and Mercado were involved in a domestic altercation that escalated when he struck her in the face twice and subjected her to unwanted physical contact.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 1 before District Judge Andrew J. Serina.
