Michelle Allen, principal of the Carbon Career and Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, submitted a letter of resignation on March 3. The letter was officially accepted at the Joint Operating Committee meeting on March 20.
“Accepted with regret,” Committee member Gerald Strubing said. Committee President Renee DeMelfi and the rest of the committee mirrored that statement.
Allen’s last day at CCTI will be on May 2.
“I took a position back at the school I graduated from, and where I worked for 18 years,” Allen explained. “A position opened, and I applied.”
That school is the Career Institute of Technology in Forks Township, near Easton.
“The past three years have been amazing,” Allen reflected. “The teachers, the administrative staff, all the staff here are phenomenal, and the school is outstanding for these students to get such well-rounded education, and the students are fabulous. I’m going to miss the school for sure.”
Allen joined CCTI on March 14, 2022.
Asked if she had any words of advice for the next principal, Allen said, “Just keep moving forward. Look to keep improving and keep advancing.”
The school already started the search for a new principal.
