March 21, 2009 — Jim Thorpe opens its baseball season with a solid 5-1 road victory over Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg. Pat Janecki tosses a four-hitter, striking out six in his seven innings of work. Danny Russo leads the Olympians offensively, collecting a pair of hits while also driving in two runs. Thorpe, which tallies twice in the second inning to take a lead it never relinquishes, also receives two hits and an RBI from both Zach DeMarco and Carl Lehmann. Mike Hickey also finishes the contest with a couple of hits.
