Weatherly baseball had a big win on Thursday while the Northwestern boys and Pleasant Valley girls both enjoyed victories on the lacrosse fields.
BASEBALL
Weatherly-Linc. Leadership
Weatherly rolled to a 17-2 non-league win over Lincoln Leadership Academy.
J. Donadi led the way for the Wreckers, as the No. 2 hitter finished with two singles, a double, a run scored and four RBIs.
Teammate R. Montz fulfilled his duties as the Wreckers’ leadoff hitter, as Montz recorded two singles, three runs scored and three RBIs.
The Wreckers’ J. Esposito earned the pitching win, as he allowed two hits, two earned runs while striking out seven.

SOFTBALL
Pleasant Valley-PM East
Emily Dubisz’s RBI-double in the bottom of the ninth lifted Pocono Mountain East to a 3-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Brianne Smith singled to centerfield and eventually came around to cross home plate with the game-winning run scored.
Back-to-back fielder’s choice plays by Brianca Pridham and Jovie Valenzuela accounted for the Bears’ lone two runs in the opening inning. Kailyn Getz, who singled, and Emma DePalma, who walked, scored the runs.
Teammate Maddie Abbatiello was the lone multiple hitter, as she finished with two singles.
The Bears’ ace, Kailyn Getz, went the distance, as she allowed 10 hits, struck out 13, and fwalked two in the setback.

Schuylkill Haven-Tamaqua
In every bit of a pitchers’ duel, it was Schuylkill Haven that escaped with a 1-0 win over Tamaqua.
While the Hurricanes’ Gracelyn Line and the Blue Raiders’ Naomi Knitter battled within the pitcher’s circle each inning, all the game needed was a single run to decide the outcome. And, in the top of the sixth, the Hurricanes’ Ally Becker doubled to provide that single run when Teagan Wehr, who earlier singled, crossed home plate.
Naomi Knitter suffered the pitching setback, as she gave up five hits, walked one and struck seven. Peyton Faust allowed two hits, no runs and struck out three in two innings of relief.
Kolbe Robb and Ceanna Gormley were the lone Raiders to collect hits off the Hurricanes’ pitcher.

Northwestern-Nazareth
Nazareth needed overtime to come out top with a 7-6 victory over visiting Nazareth.
Braydon Uricchio sparked the Tigers’ offensive with a hat trick, while Tyler Kaas fell a goal short of one himself, ending with two goals.
Teammate Kendall Wikert chipped in with a single score.
NW keeper Dane Kauker finished with 14 saves.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Moravian-Pleasant Valley
Devon Bush’s four goals and four assists highlighted Pleasant Valley’s commanding, 18-1 victory over visiting Moravian Academy.
Olivia Iandoli added one goal and five assists, while Rylee Rath chipped in with four goals.
Teammates Gabby Kutzler (three goals), Sam Miller (two goals), Peyton Knecht (two goals), Jordyn Fleming (one goal) and Brielle Halamar (one goal) all contributed to the PV offensive.

Lehighton-Northampton
Lehighton suffered its first setback of the young season, as Northampton knocked off the Indians for a 5-2, non-conference victory.
Bayto Cokrlija and Bekim Cokrlija accounted for the Indians’ lone team points with singles’ play wins.

Moravian Academy made it four straight wins to open the season, as the Lions walked off the courts with a 5-0, Colonial League victory over visiting Palmerton.
The Bombers return to action on Monday when they travel to take on Jim Thorpe in their first match as league opponents.
