Two local DeSales University students will perform in the school’s Dance Ensemble Concert, which runs Friday through Sunday.
Annyssa Parker of Kunkletown, a dance and philosophy major, will dance in works titled “Shadow Self” and “Library of the Banned.”
Amber Clews of Orwigsburg, a dance and criminal justice major, will dance in works titled “Penny Candy” and “Shadow Self.”
The Dance Ensemble Concert will feature choreography by internationally recognized choreographers and accomplished DeSales dance faculty members.
Guest choreographers include Clifford Williams, who was awarded a 1998 National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts award; Blake Krapels, who is the co-founder of Sonder Space, a collaborative dance project based in Philadelphia, with Andie Yorita and Zachary Kapeluck; and Lawrence M. Jackson, professor of dance at The George Mason University School of Dance.
“This year we are bringing six premieres to the Labuda Main Stage,” said Julia Mayo, artistic director for the show and chair of the dance department. “It has been a challenging and rewarding creation process for our students, who get to embody these choreographic works for the first time and leave their own mark on the roles for future dancers.”
DeSales in Center Valley is a Catholic, coeducational four-year liberal arts university that was founded in 1965.
