Lewistown Garden Club
The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its first meeting for 2025 at 1 p.m. March 25 in Memorial Hall at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. The program will be presented by Robert Reed with information on bees.
The arrangement to be judged is an Irish theme using green with an accessory incorporated within. The specimen is a forced branch. Reminder: It is to be with no leaves in a clear container.
There are many interesting programs scheduled this year, including trips. New members are always welcome. For more information, call Louise Flexer at 570-467-3400.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim Leskovich will share the message about the coin and the preparation of hearts during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. The evening service is at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to all services.
There will be no Wednesday evening prayer group meetings through the weeks of Lent as Lenten services are offered by the New Ringgold Ministerium.
At 7:15 p.m. March 26, there will be a People’s Choice hymn sing with service to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Evangelical. All are invited to the community service with friends and neighbors.
Sale, basket raffle
A craft and vendor sale, basket raffle and 50/50 will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. March 29 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 E. Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua. Shop and drop will be from 5-7 p.m. March 28. Lunch will be served for eat-in or takeout. Proceeds will go to the update of the kitchen.
St. Peter’s West Penn
The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. The confirmation class meets at 10:30 a.m. Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m.
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the midweek Lenten Service will be held at Zion Stone Church.
On March 27, the Cherub Choir rehearses at 6 p.m. and the Senior Choir rehearses at 7 p.m.
Rummage sale
St. John UCC, 150 Pine St, Tamaqua, will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., April 5 and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 7. There will be clothing, household items, toys, books, small appliances, decorations and more. No reasonable offer will be refused.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 13 with 27 members present. President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “The Holy Spirit Walks With You.” Members were thanked for donations to the club.
A warning was issued about numerous scams in which perpetrators are trying to get money. A picnic is being planned for August after the majority of members voted in favor of an indoor picnic.
Machamer gave all members club sandwich peanut butter crackers. The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.
The next meeting is on the first day of spring. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend the meetings, which are held at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hall.
