March 20, 1985 — Trailing by four points with under four minutes to play, Marian outscores Nativity by an 8-2 margin the rest of the way to capture a 47-45 win in a Class 2A state second round contest. Diane Decker, who finishes the contest with a game-high 22 points, tallies six of the Fillies’ final eight to pull out the victory. Decker especially excels at the foul line, ending the game 10-of-11 at the charity stripe. The winners, coached by Elsie Tolan, also receive 10 points from Patti Oakes while Diane McCullion chips in with six. Marian also enjoys a 46-28 rebounding advantage.
