A Carbon County project of the Pennsylvania Conservation Corps has been approved via a $150,000 grant awarded by the state Department of Labor and Industry.

Dennis DeMara, director of the Carbon County Parks, said the funding will enable a corps of eight members and a crew leader to continue renovation projects at county seats.

The work planned work includes installation of a biodegradable toilet system in the camping area of Mauch Chunk Lake Park; restoration of the towpath at the Lehigh Canal; rehabilitation of the canal locks; and towpath trail improvements, including installation of fencing.
