The Tamaqua Area School District continues to work with local, state and federal law enforcement following a threat at the high school complex last week, its superintendent said.
“They are following leads that they have on the situation and we are continuing to support them,” Ray Kinder told school board members Tuesday.
The district is also continuing to do its due diligence within the school to ensure a safe learning and work environment for students and staff, he said.
The high school office received a “disturbing call” threatening students and staff March 11, which prompted a lockdown, heavy police presence at the school complex and controlled, monitored dismissal.
Local, state and federal law enforcement, which includes an FBI task force, are involved in the investigation into the threat, which state police described as “a general death threat” toward anyone in the building.
State police conducted a sweep of the building after the students left, and gave “an all clear” assessment, Kinder had said.
On Tuesday, he told the board that troopers complimented the district on its handling of the situation, and they’ll be providing a written summary of that evaluation.
