A building committee formed to assist Franklin Township with its proposed administration and police office building has been discontinued.
When a resident asked at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting where the township stood with its building project, newly-seated Supervisor and board Chairman Jason Frey said he would like to dissolve the building committee.
However, Supervisor Fred Kemmerer Jr. said that the committee was already stopped.
Frey then suggested that the township send a letter to the building committee.
In February 2024, the board named Larry Diehl as lead contact person for the committee included Stan Graver, Kirk Cressley, Daniel Zeigler, Terry Shaner, Leon Kamowaki, Ty Poole and Diehl.
In December, the former board of supervisors agreed to search for bond counsel and a grant writer to assist with its proposed administration and police office building.
The township wants to have enough room to accommodate eight police officers, administration, zoning hearing board and/or supervisors for when they have to go into executive session.
The current township building is 2,800 square feet.
The township is planning to build a 7,500-square-foot building in between the former Hobby Shop site and current administration office.
