Family Promise of Carbon County is continuing its mission to help families facing homelessness.
Last week, Cathy Lamb, executive director for Family Promise and the chair of the Carbon County Homeless Task Force, reported to Carbon County Collaborative members that Family Promise is full, serving a total of 32 people, with 22 of them being children. There is also an extensive waiting list for families looking for help from the organization.
“We’ve been busy,” she said.
Lamb noted that they are planning to officially open the Drury Family Community Resource Center in their second building in Nesquehoning, which is the former St. Francis of Assisi Church, in late April.
The new resource center will help Family Promise provide the community with things like community meals, diversionary case management, eviction prevention case management, warming and cooling stations, information booths and more.
“There are a lot of plans for that space,” Lamb said.
Once the space is open, Lamb said that it will also allow Family Promise to help additional families.
