At least five homes were damaged by fire Thursday morning in Mahanoy City, according to news reports.
Firemen were dispatched around 12:30 for a report of a possible house fire at 702 East Mahanoy St., with the fire chief arriving on scene and determining the incident was “a working fire.”
Fire damage is reported to have occurred to the homes at 702, 704, and 706, and with the homes at 708 and 710 also sustaining minor damage.
Firemen had the fire under control around 1:20 a.m.
It has not been determined how many people were displaced by the fire.
Its cause has not yet been determined and a state police fire marshal has been summoned to investigate.
