State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crash:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 28 at the intersection of Route 115 and Jenna Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Geovanny Quizhpi Chauca, 46, of Brodheadsville, driving a 2019 Honda Odyssey, pulled out in front of a 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Sean A. Kratzer, 18, of Effort, while making a right turn onto Route 115 from Jenna Drive. Police said the Odyssey was struck by the Corolla, which was northbound on Route 115, resulting in the Odyssey being heavily damaged.

According to police, Quizhpi Chauca showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.

• Police responded to a one-vehicle crash at 5:56 p.m. March 2 at the intersection of White Pine Road and on Rhododendron Trail, Penn Forest Township.

They said a 2021 Hyundai was traveling down a hill when it slid off the road and hit a tree, resulting in damage to its front bumper.

Police did not identify the driver but said no injuries occurred.

• Christopher C. Kane, 37, of Saylorsburg, was cited after a crash at 7:39 p.m. Feb. 21 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township, police said. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 eastbound when the vehicle went off the road and hit a tree. It had disabling damage.

Police said Kane “abandoned” the vehicle without contacting police. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Police said the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado that struck a stopped car on Gilbert Road in Chestnuthill Township left the scene of the incident.

It occurred at 4:07 p.m. March 3 at the intersection of Route 115 when the Silverado struck a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Kelly E. Piwoski, of 214 Pioneer Road, Kresgeville, and proceeded south on Route 115.

• Two people were injured in a crash at 2:42 p.m. March 11 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a 17-year-old from Saylorsburg was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS unit to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono, East Stroudsburg. They said the severity of injuries are unknown.

A 17-year-old boy from Stroudsburg had minor injuries but did not require a medical transport from the scene, police said.

The crash occurred when the Saylorsburg driver, operating a 1996 Buick LaSabre, hit the back of a 2016 Mazda driven by the Stroudsburg boy. Police said a local towing service assisted at the scene.
