PV kindergarten registration now open
Kindergarten registration in the Panther Valley School District will be held on April 8, 9 and 10 between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Panther Valley Elementary School gymnasium, 1 N. Mermon Ave., Nesquehoning.
For a child to be registered for kindergarten, the parent/guardian must call the Panther Valley Elementary School office Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 570-669-9411 to make an appointment. No walk-in registrations will be accepted.
At the time of the call, be prepared to provide the following information to the secretary: parent/parents/guardian name, address, and telephone number along with the child’s name and birth date.
A child must be 5 years old by Sept. 1 to be eligible for kindergarten; no exceptions.
When attending registration, the parent/guardian should have a state-issued birth certificate or other acceptable proof of name and age of child, along with immunization records for the child enrolling.
Also, the parent/guardian must bring two proofs of residency and any court related documents pertaining to the child if applicable.
At the scheduled appointment, only parent/parents/guardian and the child to be registered can attend. The school is limiting the number of people who will be entering the building.
Please arrive at the scheduled appointment time.
The parent/parents/guardian will meet with the school secretary, who will record all pertinent information as well as determine the child’s bus stop.
The school nurse will record all medical information, review immunization requirements and provide information on health related issues. Parents will also be meeting with some of our community health partners.
While the parent/parents/guardian is completing the meetings and being oriented, the child will be participating in their own testing program.
