Letter to the editor: Elon Musk calls Social Security a Ponzi Scheme

The limit on taxing earned income for Social Security purposes is $176,100. Once you earn that amount you and your employer do not have to pay into Social Security. Think about that the person earning $176,100 pays the exact same amount as a millionaire and a billionaire. The Social Security problem could be fixed immediately if all earned income was taxed. But that will be hard to do since so many members of congress are influenced by rich Americans.

Musk earns millions of dollars a year and pays social security tax on $176,100 and he calls it a Ponzi scheme. It is a scheme alright for rich Americans. By the way his business empire is built on $38 billion in government funding. I think it’s time DOGE does its job and investigates this for wasteful spending.
