Tamaqua police said Andrew Harley Jr., 31, of Tamaqua, urinated on the department’s cell block floor after he was taken into custody following a 1:42 a.m. Feb. 28 incident at a bar on the 300 block of East Broad Street.
Police charged Harley Jr. with simple assault, institutional vandalism, public drunkenness, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct and harassment.
According to police, officers were sent to the bar for a disturbance and found the owner attempting to escort Harley Jr. outside. Once police got Harley Jr. outside, they determined he was intoxicated. He yelled at patrons inside the bar and was told to go home to his nearby apartment.
The owner said Harley Jr. was told to leave several times, and did, but eventually returned. When back inside the bar a second time, he began fighting with another patron and punched him in the head and face.
Police said they spoke to Harley Jr. about the allegations, and he became confrontational and continued to yell, “arrest me.”
He was taken into custody and told he would be held in the department’s cell until he was no longer a danger to himself or anyone.
While in custody, police said he continued to yell and bang on the cell block’s metal doors; threatened to have the officers fired and yelled about the bar.
Officers said Harley Jr. then threatened to urinate on the floor.
