March 17, 1965 — Nesquehoning’s entry into the Edwards Memorial Basketball Tournament opens with a successful 80-79 victory over Seitzinger’s of Freeland. The winners are led by former Jim Thorpe standout George Armbruster, who pours in a game-high 33 points on 15 field goals and three free throws. Nesquehoning graduate Tom Stemetski contributes 20 points as the team uses a 27-20 fourth-quarter to earn the comeback win. Another former Nesquehoning high school player, Billy Sotak, chips in with 10 points.
