Carbon County Commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners recently acted on the following items:
• Opened bids for two whole home repair program projects. These will either be awarded or rejected at the March 20 commissioners’ meeting.
• Approved a quote from Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP of Allentown to install a new access control device on the exterior and interior doors at the county administration building at a cost of $23,296.61.
• Approved a quote of Johnson Controls to upgrade the existing camera server in the court information technology office at a cost of $18,526.29. Also, approve a quote from Johnson Controls to install two vandal dome cameras on the first floor outside the sheriff’s office and on the second floor by the back elevator entrance at the courthouse. The cost is $2,905.23. Both are funded through the 2024 AOPC Security Grant.
• Approved a court interpreter services grant application for language access reimbursable costs incurred for calendar year 2024-2025 totaling $17,921.17.
• Approved a request for proposal for survey services for the Strockoz Farm selected for preservation from the Carbon County Agricultural Land Preservation Board.
• Adopted revision 1 to the social media and website usage procedure policy to update the county website link and add all posts and comments are subject to Right to Know requests from the public.
• Approved a RASA grant award for $44,382 from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for the 2025 Victim/Witness program for 2025.

• Retirements: Jeffrey L. Davis of Jim Thorpe, assistant chief assessor, tax assessment, effective March 21; and Timothy B. Dugan of Allentown, lieutenant, sheriff’s office, effective March 24.
• Resignations: Jared M. Soto of Lansford, social worker/case manager, public defender, effective March 21; Stephanie L. Morris of Nesquehoning, probation officer I, adult probation, effective March 14; and Lauren E. Beal of Quakertown, law clerk, court administration, effective March 28.
• Appointment: Michael J. Johnson of Parryville, tax collector, Parryville, effective Feb. 1.
• Prison board appointments: Vanessa J. Chevere of Frackville, part-time corrections officer, effective March 3; and James Kimble of Palmerton, corrections officer, effective March 10; and Justin S. McMillan of Albrightsville and Jenna L. Velas of Lehighton, corrections officers, both effective Feb. 17.
• Hire: Krystal R. Sansone of Walnutport, 911 operator, communications center, effective March 7.
• Changes of status: Anthony J. Fatzie of Nesquehoning, from 911 operator to senior dispatcher; Michele L. Stoffey of Lehighton, from part-time clerk to archivist/records director, archives; Karalyn M. Williams of Lehighton, from coordinator to caseworker, Workforce Investment Opportunity Act; and James E. Youngkin Jr. of Nesquehoning, from acting records supervisor to records supervisor, corrections, all effective March 10; and Kimberly Swartz of Tamaqua, from domestic relations specialist II to fiscal coordinator, effective Feb. 10.
• Administrative correction: Donna L. Sheller of Lehighton, aging case aide II, Area Agency on Aging, change from resignation to retirement, effective April 4.
