Church Rummage Sale
St. John UCC, 150 Pine St, Tamaqua, will hold a rummage sale April 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There will be clothing, household items, toys, books, small appliances, decorations and more. No reasonable offer refused.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on March 6 with 28 members present. President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. One member was added to the sick list. The invocation, “Things to be Thankful For” was read.
A member will celebrate a birthday in March. One member brought St. Patty’s Day cupcakes for each member. Dues are now being collected for the year.
Pizza will be served at the next meeting, and there will be a brown bag the week following.
On April 17, there will be an election of officers, and on April 24 there will be a choose your choice with two names.
The May 22 anniversary dinner will likely be catered by Hess Catering of Schuylkill Haven. Bingo and cards were played.
The seniors meet at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Calvary Evangelical - Lewistown
Pastor Kim Leskowich will deliver a message of preparation of hearts for Easter, and will share about a cross at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley. There will be enthusiastic singing of new and old hymns and folks are invited to attend, worship and sing along. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. There will be a Sunday evening service.
No Wednesday evening prayer group meetings will be held during the weeks of Lent as Lenten services are offered by the New Ringgold Ministerium. At 7:15 p.m. on March 19, there will be a People’s Choice hymn sing followed by a 7:30 p.m. service at Congregational Free Church of Christ, 81 McKeans Ridge Rd., McKeansburg.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. followed by Sunday school at 10:15 a.m. The church board meets at 10:30 a.m. and Girl Scouts meet at 6 p.m. There will be no confirmation class.
WASP meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday and the midweek Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Peter’s.
The Cherub Choir will rehearse at 6 p.m. March 20 followed by the Senior Choir at 7 p.m.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on March 11 with 37 members present. President Robert Neifert opened the meeting with the invocation, “The Solitary Star.”
One new member was welcomed. An Easter basket donated by a member was won by a member.
One member gave out magnetic shamrocks to the group, and another distributed pots of gold with candy and lucky coins inside. Seniors were warned about a debit card scam.
A trip to Mohegan Sun Casino is pending. The meeting closed and bingo and cards were played.
The next meeting will be held at 1 p.m. March 25 weather permitting at Christ Church in Barnesville. The group wishes all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
