One driver is dead as the result of a violent crash Friday morning in Rush Township.
The collision happened around noon on Route 54 (Pine Creek Drive), just east of the intersection with Fairview Street in the village of Barnesville.
A tractor trailer hauling trash was traveling west when the driver of the rig lost control on a curve in the roadway, rolling the unit on its left side.
As it slid up the roadway it hit a dump truck traveling east. The driver of the rig was trapped in the wreckage.

Heavy rescue units were dispatched from Tamaqua and Mahanoy City.
The Schuylkill County coroner was called to the scene. Area fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway in both directions between Marian Avenue and Fairview Street.
Hope’s towing of Tamaqua was on scene with their heavy wreckers to remove the vehicles. Tamaqua Transfer was on scene to remove the tons of garbage.
