State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 37-year-old Stroudsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:52 a.m. Jan. 25.

He was stopped in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado for summary offenses on Hay Road, Jackson Township, after which police determined him to be incapable of safe driving.

• A 17-year-old boy from Stroudsburg was cited for disorderly conduct after an incident at 7:59 p.m. March 4 in the parking lot of the Wawa convenience store on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.

Police said he was observed driving recklessly.

• Police are investigating the theft of $20,000 worth of 19-gauge utility wire from a site off Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

They said that at 2:47 p.m. Jan. 13, they were alerted to a power outage in the area of Hickory Run State Park and were told by Verizon utility workers that 14 spans of the wire were taken from the scene, having been cut between utility poles spanning the interstate from mile marker 276.1 to the park.

• A 29-year-old man from Wallkill, New York, is facing charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment after police responded to an assault with a weapon report at 12:16 a.m. Feb. 15 at a property on Long Acre Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a 57-year-old woman from Effort told police that she advised the man to leave her residence, after he yelled, “If you don’t give me my things, I’m going to kill you.”

Police said he reentered the residence through the front door, where the woman was armed with a hand gun. A physical altercation occurred and the man took the gun from the woman, shoving her to the ground, police said.

A pepper spray canister the woman had fell onto the floor and was grabbed by the man, who sprayed the woman, according to police.

A second confrontation occurred, police said, when the man followed the woman and continued to spay her.

Police said the man left the home and left the gun on a bench.
