NL athletic director to retire

NL’s Geist worked for the district 30 years

Northern Lehigh School District’s chief athletic officer is set to call it a career at the end of this school year.

On a unanimous measure, the school board on Monday with regret, accepted the retirement resignation of district athletic director Bryan Geist, effective June 30.

Geist has met all the criteria as stipulated in the Administrator Compensation Plan for the Middle Level Management team and is requesting to be included in the Administrator’s Retirement Plan.

Geist will retire from the district after 30-and-a-half years.

Superintendent Dr. Matthew J. Link said Geist has served the district in multiple capacities, including as mathematics teacher, department chair, and coach.

After the meeting, Geist, who has served as athletic director for nearly the past 20 years, explained why he decided to retire.

“I just want to spend more time with my wife traveling, and spend more time with my family,” Geist said.

Geist added he was grateful to the school district for the opportunity to serve.

Also recognized was Vonda Lorson, business education teacher, Northern Lehigh High School, who will retire effective the end of the working day during the 2024-2025 school year, after 21 years of service.

Link said the district will provide a more in-depth recognition of both Geist and Lorson as they near the conclusion of their tenure at Northern Lehigh with a formal acknowledgment planned for the May board meeting.
