State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Amanda Pysher, 35, of Saylorsburg, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash a 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 17 at 341 Greenhill Road, Polk Township.

Police did not provide the details of the crash but said a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was involved and listed, but did not name the nine victims, all from Kunkletown.

• Andy R. Thach, 28, of Philadelphia, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:59 p.m. on Feb. 15 on Kunkletown Road in Polk Township.

Police said he was driving a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound and was traveling too fast for icy conditions when he lost control. The Jeep struck a wooden pole before coming to a halt facing south. It had to be towed, police said.

• Police said the driver of a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse that pulled into the intersection of Hill and Wintergreen roads in Towamensing Township at 11:35 a.m. on Feb. 15 and causing a collision, was cited after the crash.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Police did not name the drivers, or their residences, but said the Traverse was northbound on Wintergreen Road when the driver failed to ensure it was safe to enter the intersection and the vehicle hit a 2014 Dodge Challenger that was westbound on Hill Road.

Police said both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

• A 27-year-old woman from Albrightsville, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at White Birch Drive, Penn Forest Township.

Police said she was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry at the time.

• Police responded to an incident where snow and ice flew off a vehicle, striking another vehicle, at 11:24 a.m. on Feb. 10 on Interchange Road in Towamensing Township.

They said a 2018 Ford was northbound while a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was southbound. No drivers’ names or addresses were provided by police.

They said ice dislodged from the roof of the Ford and hit the windshield of the minivan. No one was injured in the mishap.

• Reiley C. Dorward, 19, and Celia M. Fisher, 19, both of Lehighton, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:56 p.m. on Feb. 7 on Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township. Police said they did not require a medical transport from the scene.

They said Dorward was driving a 2002 Acura, with Fisher as her passenger, when she lost control of the southbound vehicle. It left the road and hit a sign and rock before overturning onto its roof, landing in the middle of the road. It was towed from the scene.

Police said Dorward was cited after the crash.

• Nichlas R. Shorten, 25, of Jim Thorpe, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:55 a.m. on Feb. 6 on North Street in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler northbound, just south of the Maury Road, when he lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway. It hit an embankment on the left side of the road, traveled up the embankment and overturned onto its roof, police said.

The Jeep was towed from the scene.
