The Kutztown women’s basketball team captured the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship on Sunday with a 78-64 victory over Edinboro in the title game.

Members of the Golden Bears team include Jim Thorpe graduates Olivia Smelas and Leila Hurley.

In the championship contest, Smelas contributed six points, nine rebounds, two steals and two assists. Hurley added three points, two steals and two boards.

In the 64-58 semifinal victory over Gannon on Saturday to reach the title game, Smelas scored nine points, had four rebounds and blocked three shots. Hurley contributed three points, a rebound and an assist.
