State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police are investigating an incident in which entered an unlocked 2005 Hyundai Sonata on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township between 8:25 p.m. March 1 and 10:50 a.m. March 2.

A 56-year-old man from Effort reported the incident and said about $5 in loose change was taken.

• Ernestine Owens, 26, of Binghamton, New York, is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 5:48 p.m. March 1.

Police stopped a Nissan Altima for Title 75 violations at mile marker 280.7 eastbound in Kidder Township, after which police found Owens, a passenger, in possession of a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia.

• Kelly Gidzinski, 46, of Albrightsville, was targeted in a theft by deception case that police were called to at 8:34 a.m. Feb. 24 at 59 Mansi Drive, Penn Forest Township.

Police said their investigation determined she was “scammed” out of $2,630.12 by someone posing as a debt collector.

• Police said a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander owned by a 20-year-old Wilkes-Barre man was stolen between 1:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Feb. 22.

The man told police he parked the vehicle near mile marker 280.2 westbound and it was gone when he returned to the location.

• Police said they received several reports of mail being stolen from mailboxes in the Chestnuthill Township area.

A 65-year-old man from Grey Goose Lane, Effort, reported one of the incidents at 11:27 a.m. Feb. 21, telling police that a Tesla vehicle was involved in the theft of his outgoing mail.
