Cargill plans to close its cocoa and chocolate production facility in the Humboldt Industrial Park in Hazle Township this summer, affecting more than 100 employees, the company said last month.
The company, which announced a 5% reduction in its workforce of 8,000 worldwide in December, will shift production from its Hazleton facility to other plants in North America.
Cargill plans to work with the 102 employees affected by this closure and assist with the transition, offering severance and job placement.
The closure does not affect its meat packing plant, which employs 800, also in the Humboldt Industrial Park.
Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce President Mary Malone said this week that it will be hosting a job fair on March 20 at the Laurel Mall, and Pennsylvania CareerLink will also be assisting with the state’s Rapid Response Team.
