Two injured in turnpike crash

State police at the Pocono barracks said a crash occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike during a steady rainstorm.

Kaelie M. Worden, 19, of Scranton, and David Pittsman, 47, of Taylor, were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:27 a.m. on Feb. 27 at mile marker 81.6 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said Worden was transported by the Lehighton Ambulance Association to St. Luke’s Hospital, while Pittsman did not require medical transport. According to police, Worden was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic southbound when she lost control.

The vehicle spun clockwise, and its passenger side struck the driver’s side of a 2025 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Pittsman.

The Sonic then hit the center concrete barrier. Police said Worden was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
