St. Luke’s Healthline: Carbon Campus expands medical imaging hours
St. Luke’s Carbon Campus has expanded its hours for medical imaging tests, which are crucial for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating illnesses and injuries. Available tests include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, nuclear medicine and X-ray.
“Medical imaging allows physicians and other health care providers to have an inside view of internal organs, bones, circulatory system and so much more,” Steve Slackus, director of Imaging Services, states. “Now, with extended evening and weekend hours for many of our exams, it is easier and more convenient for our community to get the diagnostic tests they need. More immediate diagnostic testing, a fast, accurate diagnosis and earlier treatments are all vitally important to safeguard health. Early diagnosis saves lives.”
Investing in ever-improving imaging technology is a priority for St. Luke’s, an international show site for GE HealthCare. Imaging exams performed in our St. Luke’s Network are dictated and read by board-certified radiologists.
In addition, our team of radiologists specialize in the type of images they read, enabling them to become experts in reading and interpreting these images, Slackus said.
“For example, if you need an MRI of your brain, it is analyzed by a radiologist who specializes in brain images,” he said. “Because they read a large number of these types of images, they can identify areas of concern that a general radiologist might miss. In addition, our radiologists work closely with medical and surgical specialists in areas such as oncology, cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, urology and gastroenterology. So together, we can create the most accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plan.”
