Palmerton has applied for a $500,000 grant for sewer line rehabilitation work.
On a 6-0 vote, borough council on Thursday approved a resolution to apply for a PA Small Water and Sewer grant application.
Borough Manager Autumn Canfield said the grant would be utilized for sewer lining.
“The lining will extend the life span of our aging infrastructure,” Canfield said. “Additionally, the liner will also address cracking in the pipes which will hopefully decrease I & I in our system.”
Canfield explained that the grant would have a huge significance in addressing sewer-related issues throughout the borough.
“We are currently working on a seven-year plan, budgeting funds every year to address specific areas of town,” she said. “If we receive the grant, it will accelerate the timeline for our program.”
Councilman Richard Nothstein was absent.
