State police seeks suspects who shot at troopers

Pennsylvania state police have released more details on a shooting incident and chase in the Harrisburg area Sunday that ended in Schuylkill County.

Two suspects are in custody and two are at large.

Police said at 12:40 p.m. a motorist driving north on Interstate 81 near mile marker 57.1, Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, observed a passenger in a red Toyota Tundra pointing a firearm at other motorists.

This vehicle was located by a trooper from PSP-Harrisburg on I-81 near mile marker 78, West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, and a traffic stop was initiated. The red Toyota Tundra initially stopped on the shoulder, however fled shortly thereafter.

The vehicle fled off I-81 to a location in the 7000 block Manor Drive, West Hanover Township, Dauphin County, where an occupant from within fired multiple rounds from a pistol at troopers, striking one patrol vehicle.

The fleeing vehicle reentered I-81 north, later exiting near Frackville, becoming disabled near Walmart, St Clair Township, Schuylkill County.

Four suspects ran from the car. Two were taken into custody.

The other two male suspects were seen entering the Walmart in St. Clair at the general merchandise entrance.

Inside the store they discarded multiple articles of clothing and shoplifted other clothes, altering their appearance. The males left through the southeast emergency exit.

Troop L Frackville is leading efforts to apprehend the remaining two suspects. One was identified as Jeremiah Begley, 17 years old. He is 5’8 and weighs 172 pounds.

He has brownish/auburn hair and was last seen wearing a Nirvana T-shirt.

The second male has a darker complexion with a heavier build. He was wearing gray sweatpants and a black shirt.
