Charles Guy, Tamaqua R.D., was named chairman of a committee formed to honor Anthony “Tony” Wargo upon his retirement as Schuylkill County sheriff.

Joining Guy will be Norman Richards, Coaldale, secretary; James Fauzio, Nesquehoning, treasurer; Norman Richards Jr., Coaldale, William Schickram, Ruth Valentine, Edgar Fegley, all of Tamaqua, George McDonald, Lake Hauto, and Emerick Olear, McAdoo.

Wargo served two four-year terms of office and opted to not seek re-election due to declining health. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Coaldale State General Hospital. He is the operator of a factory in Coaldale and has been active in the borough and county.
