Alvernia launches engineer program
Alvernia University has launched a fully online Master of Science in Engineering Management program to start in the fall 2025 semester.
“The addition of this program is a significant step in Alvernia’s mission to provide transformative education that meets the changing needs of our regional workforce,” said Senior Vice President and Provost Leamor Kahanov. “Our industry partners were an integral part of the development of the program as we look to address skill gaps within local industry.”
While fostering technical excellence, the program recognizes the importance of interpersonal skills, effective writing and impactful presentation abilities — essential traits sought by employers.
The program is tailored for individuals with technical backgrounds, offering a blend of managerial insight and hands-on technical expertise. As the digital landscape evolves, graduates emerge as leaders capable of understanding and implementing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, informatics and cybersecurity, plus also of inspiring and leading diverse teams toward innovation and sustainable success.
“Our curriculum emphasizes not only the technical skills essential for modern engineering but also the interpersonal and communication abilities that are crucial for effective leadership,” said David Shoup, the dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. “Graduates will be well-prepared to navigate and lead within the rapidly evolving technological landscape.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the range of jobs available with a Master of Science in Engineering Management is projected to grow faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033. The median salary for architectural and engineering managers is $165,370.
Housed within Alvernia University’s Graduate and Adult Education programs, the Master of Science in Engineering Management program is designed with working professionals in mind, being offered entirely online.
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis. The first cohort will begin in fall 2025.
