State police at Fogelsville - crashes

State police at the Fogelsville barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said high winds caused a tree to fall onto Route 309 in Lynn Township at 6:58 p.m. on Feb. 13, resulting in injury to one person in what became a three-vehicle incident.

Police said Leah M. Cofield, 40, of Schnecksville, had possible injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, by personnel from the Cetronia Ambulance Corps. Two passengers in the vehicle she was driving, Isaiah Cofield, 18, and a 7-year-old girl, also from Schnecksville, were uninjured, police said.

The three vehicles, one of which was driven by Cofield, were all northbound when the tree fell onto the road, where all three vehicles struck it, police said.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were not identified by police.

Police said all three vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

• No one was reported injured in a crash at 12:25 p.m. on Feb. 14 on Route 209 in Lynn Township.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks said the crash occurred when Robert W. Mercer, 34, of Nesquehoning, driving a 2013 Mack truck northbound, was unable to stop and struck the rear of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma operated by Landon G. Figueroa, 29, of Tamaqua.

Police said Figueroa had braked for traffic ahead of him.

Both vehicles had minor damage and were able to be driven from the scene, according to police.

• The driver of a vehicle that crashed at 2:09 a.m. on Feb. 14 at 8491 Route 309, Lynn Township, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
