Nesquehoning woman faces charges in dispute

A Nesquehoning woman faces criminal charges after a domestic dispute Sunday afternoon.

Norma Aguayo, 58, of West Ridge Street, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of instruments of crime, simple assault and harassment.

She was arraigned Monday by District Judge Beth Dodson and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

According to court papers, borough police responded to the home on West Ridge Street after 3 p.m. and spoke to a man, who is in a relationship and sharing the home with Aguayo.

He told police that a verbal conflict turned physical, resulting in him having bleeding wounds. Injuries were visible on his neck, and he showed police injuries to his back, which resulted from a struggle in which the two fell, court papers said.

He also had multiple superficial cuts on the front of his torso, which were indicative of a cutting instrument, police said. The man told police that Aguayo had a knife.

Aguayo showed police an abrasion she said she received when the man threw her into a closet and broke her glasses. She also said the man broke the closet with her face. Police did not see collaborating injuries, court papers said.

Aguayo told police the argument was over finances.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 25 before Dodson, according to court papers.
