A lot has happened these past few months! From clubs to sports Lehighton has been bustling with activities.
The most prominent likely being the Boy’s Coal Cracker Wrestling Tournament held here at the high school and elementary center.
People came from all over to compete and to watch, with non-stop matches throughout the Friday and Saturday when it took place. Good job to all those who competed. And thanks to all the volunteers who helped keep the things going.
The season of giving has come and gone, but Lehighton’s Aevidum Club didn’t seem to acknowledge that. They partnered with Palmerton’s Aevidum to host a food drive during a Double-Header basketball game at Lehighton’s Elementary Center! For entrance to the game, spectators could bring a non-perishable food item for admission.
The donations were amazing, with people bringing much more than the minimum one food item per spectator! All proceeds were then donated to Trinity Food Bank.
Aevidum is also hosting another Miller Keystone Blood Drive on March 4. Students aged 16 years or older have the opportunity to donate blood during the school day. Students who donate a certain amount of blood can then get a cord that they can wear at graduation.
The high school had another school-wide positive awareness day and holding a volleyball tournament on Feb. 14.
During the tournament, the school Thrift Store was set up so students watching the tournament can check out what’s available. The best part? Everything in the Thrift Store was free.
FBLA is getting prepped for States during the spring by hosting study sessions. Members who qualified for States have the opportunity to go and get ready for their event so when the time comes they will nail their test or event. Congratulations to the 30+ members who qualified.
The Science Olympiad team has been working hard in preparation for their events. Congratulations to those who have won already and good luck in the upcoming competitions.
