2025 election season begins
Numerous elective positions in municipalities and school districts are up for grabs in the 2025 Municipal Election that starts with the nominating process in the Primary Election of May 20 and will culminate with the General Election on Nov. 4.
The process began Tuesday, the first day for people to circulate petitions to get their names on either the Democratic or Republican ballots in their respective municipalities or school districts. Petitions must be filed by March 11.
In Carbon County, positions are up for grabs in all 23 municipalities and the six school districts, five being full districts and the sixth being in the Hazleton Area School District where only voters in Banks Township and Beaver Meadows in Carbon participate in that at-large balloting.
Here are the municipalities and school districts and the positions that are to be filled by the electorate this year:
Townships
Banks – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three auditors, terms of two-, 4- and 6-years.
East Penn – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and one auditor, six-year term.
Franklin – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and one auditor, six-year term.
Kidder – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; one auditor, six-year term; and one auditor, two-year term.
Lausanne – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three auditors, terms of two-, 4- and 6-years.
Lehigh – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and one auditor, six-year term.
Lower Towamensing - one supervisor, six-year term; one supervisor, two-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and one auditor, six-year term.
Mahoning – two supervisors, six-year terms; one tax collector, four-year term; one auditor, six-year term; and one auditor, two-year term.
Packer – two supervisors, six-year terms; one tax collector, four-year term; one auditor, six-year term; and one auditor, four-year term.
Penn Forest - two supervisors, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three auditors, terms of two-, 4- and 6-years.
Towamensing – one supervisor, six-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and one auditor, six-year term.
Boroughs
Beaver Meadows – one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and four council positions, four-year terms.
Bowmanstown - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and four council positions, four-year terms.
East Side - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and four council positions, four-year terms.
Jim Thorpe - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and four council positions, four-year terms.
Lansford - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three council positions, four-year terms.
Lehighton - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three council positions, four-year terms.
Nesquehoning - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and three council positions, four-year terms.
Palmerton - one mayor, four-year term; one tax collector, four-year term; and four council positions, four-year terms.

In each of the 51 election precincts in the county, voters will also vote for one judge of elections, four-year term; one majority inspector of elections, four-year term; and one minority inspector of elections, four-year term.
