Walnutport Borough Council took the following action last week:
• Announced that the borough has received a $60,000 Community Development Block Grant for Willow Avenue.
• Agreed to spend $3,000 to replace the chimney at the borough garage on Carbon Street. The Walnutport Authority has agreed to pay half the cost.
• Approved a quote in the amount of $1,181 from Kistler O’Brien Fire Protection for annual fire alarm inspection of the municipal building.
• Agreed to pay Veritext Legal Solutions $1,138 for transcription services, as it was not a budgeted item.
• Approved officer Nicholas Hartman to use $498 of his $800 educational fund to go to two classes.
• Extended terms to the following Walnutport Authority board members Rica Cook, treasurer, four-year term, Ronald Kuntz, chairman, two-year term, and Dennis Rehrig, four-year term.
• Approved a request from the Wildlands Conservancy Sojourn to allow camping June 7-8.
• Approved the Lehigh Township Lions Club requesting permission to hold the 2025 Walnutport Canal Day Oct. 18-19.
