Rescuers called to Glen Onoko

Several fire companies were dispatched to Glen Onoko Falls at the Lower Falls for a reported ankle injury on Saturday.

According to a post on the Onoko Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page, crews were dispatched at around 9:50 a.m.

Crews arrived on scene and made the determination that more manpower was needed due to very icy conditions.

Crews worked for about three hours, safely bringing the injured hiker off the mountain.

Assisting along with Jim Thorpe Fire Department were the Lehighton Fire Department, New Columbus Fire Company, and Nesquehoning Hose Company No. 1.

Lehighton Ambulance also had its rehab truck on scene to provide warm and cold drinks for the crews.
