The Summit Hill Borough Council accepted an offer made by the Summit Hill School Board to take ownership of the former high school, the Washington Building, during its meeting last night in the borough hall.

The borough will purchase the building for the nominal price of $1, this coming after school board members attended the council session to present the offer. Directors Roy Zimardo, Thomas McCall and Russell Anstead represented the district.

Council will take ownership and maintenance of the building before July 1. The surrounding ground to the building is included in the offer.

It is expected the building will be used for an all-purpose community center.
