Kayla M. Semmel, Carbon County prothonotary, has announced the December and January reports for her office.

December

A total of 412 cases were started in the Carbon County Prothonotary’s Office, including 54 civil action, one assessment appeal, three landlord/tenant appeals, two confession of judgment, 262 judgments, 15 custody filings, seven DJ appeals, 11 divorces, two objections, nine mortgage foreclosures, 21 protection from abuse orders, six liens, two replevin, seven mental health cases, and three name changes.

Total income generated: $34,061.79

• Prothonotary Fees: $28,003.08

• Custody/Divorce Fees: $812.50

• Data Processing Fees: $5,147.71

• PFA Surcharge Sheriff: $25

• PFA Surcharge Courts: $25

• Stenographer Fees: $48.50

In addition to the above fees:

• Remitted to the county for the Remote Access Fund for Remote Access Fees: $5,600

• Remitted to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue (fees collected on new cases): $4,981.98

• Automation Fund: $1,503.40

• Sales Tax-Money turned over to the state for tax on passport photos: $38.25

January

A total of 331 cases were started in the Carbon County

Prothonotary’s Office including 62 civil action, one confession of judgment, eight court appointments, 160 judgments, 15 custody filings, six DJ appeals, 16 divorces, two objections, 10 mortgage foreclosures, 25 protection from abuse orders, one lien, seven mental health cases, and five name changes and two license appeals.

Total income generated: $38,502.43

• Prothonotary Fees: $1,387.50

• Custody/Divorce Fees: $5,001.41

• Stenographer Fees: $1,697

In addition to the above fees:
