A Florida man was charged with murder Thursday in connection with a homicide that happened on Jan. 22, 2023, at an after-hours club at 1038 Union Boulevard in Allentown.
District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Allentown Police Chief Charles Roca announced the arrest of Alberto Jose Rios-Santiago, 26, of Deltona, who they said is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.
He is charged with criminal homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of instruments of crime.
Holihan said the homicide occurred during gunfire around 4:45 a.m. on the above date, when Blessing Taveras, 28, of Schnecksville, was shot and killed. The county coroner ruled the death a homicide at the time. Two other victims were injured in the gunfire, Holihan said.
He said the incident was investigated by Lehigh County’s 12th Investigating Grand Jury, Allentown Police Detective Raymond T. Ferraro and the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force Detective Moses Miller. The complaint and presentment are both sealed.
The case will be prosecuted by Chief of Prosecutions Patricia Fuentes Mulqueen and Assistant District Attorney Sis-Obed G. Torres-Figueroa, the DA said.
