Gerace joining McCormick’s staff
Congressman Dan Meuser, PA-09, Thursday, announced his District Director Nathan Gerace is leaving on Feb. 18 to join Sen. Dave McCormick’s Pennsylvania leadership team as Northeast Director.
Gerace, who was the youngest mayor elected in Tamaqua, said he will finish his second term, which expires in December. Gerace announced earlier this month that he will not seek re-election for that office.
Gerace, 26, will be based out of McCormick’s offices in Allentown, at 840 West Hamilton St., and Scranton, at 417 Lackawanna Avenue.
He joined Meuser’s staff in 2019. “For six years Nathan has been an invaluable member of our team, and while we’ll certainly miss him in Pottsville, I know he’ll bring that same commitment to serving Pennsylvania in his new role with Sen. McCormick,” said Meuser.
“With a strong commitment to public service and constituent outreach, Nathan remains devoted to advancing the interests of all Pennsylvanians,” McCormick said in a news release announcing his office staff.
Michael Shay, previously director of constituent services & grants for Meuser, has been promoted to district director. A longtime member of Congressman Meuser’s staff and former aide to Rep. Lou Barletta, Shay will now oversee the congressman’s district operations and team.
Additionally, Evelyn Datte will soon join the Pottsville office as district coordinator. A 2024 graduate of Gettysburg College with a degree in political science and public policy, Datte previously served as finance director for the Pennsylvania GOP.
A Pottsville native, she is also the chair of the Schuylkill County Young Republicans and is passionate about engaging young people in politics.
“Michael Shay has spent years working directly with the people of PA-09, problem solving, and ensuring constituents get the help they need in an effective and timely manner. He brings a deep understanding of our district to the role, and there’s no one better suited to lead our district team. I’m also pleased to welcome Evelyn Datte—her energy, expertise, and passion for public service will make her an asset to our office as we continue working for the people of Northeast Central Pennsylvania,” Meuser said.
